The Dawson Eagle Band is comprised of approximately 300 wind, percussion and color guard students from many diverse cultures and various socio-economic backgrounds. The program is divided into four ability-based performance groups, percussion ensemble classes, a jazz band, and a color guard class. All groups are provided a variety of performance opportunities geared towards developing well-rounded musicians. The Dawson Wind Ensemble continues to establish itself as one of the top performing ensembles in Texas. In 2022, the ensemble placed 4th in the Texas Honor Band process performing works by Aaron Copland (Emblems) and Shostakovich (October, Op. 131). They were recognized as a National Winner in the Mark of Excellence Wind Band competition (2022 & 2023) and were invited to perform at the 2023 Texas Association of School Administrators Conference.
